OUR WORK

TradeMark Africa’s (TMA’s) Research and Learning (RL) Unit is mandated to lead in strengthening research, learning and knowledge sharing within TMA and externally to guide the implementation of its second strategic plan (2017-2023).

The implementation of strategy 2 seeks ways to pro-actively generate and contribute to the body of knowledge on Aid-for-Trade in Eastern Africa and beyond. The efforts bring value to TMA’s visibility and expand its reach and influence in the Aid-for-Trade space in Africa positioning the organization as a though and knowledge leader in trade facilitation including the African Continental Free Trade Area(AfCFTA).

Strengthening lessons learned combined with complementary external partnerships and applied research bolsters TMA’s ability to produce impact narratives that support adaptative programming in implementing trade interventions.

The unit, therefore, pioneers policy-relevant flagship studies on selected trade topics, the development of regular knowledge pieces, and the quality assurance of research studies. The unit also has mandates to institute robust data collection and management practices essential for making TMA a data hub for trade facilitation in Africa.
